MEET DR. MICHELE BURKLUND
A physician.
A widow.
A woman,
still becoming.
Clinical knowledge and lived experience.
A place for both in the conversation.

MY STORY
I’m Michele.
I came to medicine through curiosity about the body. Grief brought me into questions that were also deeply personal.
I trained as a naturopathic physician at Bastyr University and have spent more than a decade in clinical practice. My education taught me to investigate, to look for connections, and to consider a person’s life alongside her symptoms.
After losing my husband, the physical experience of grief became part of my own story. I knew the language of medicine. I was also a woman living through loss.
Those experiences shape the questions I bring to this work. What has changed in an ordinary day? What is happening physically? What support is already present, and what still feels missing?
I want medicine to make room for those questions—and for the person asking them.

THE PERSPECTIVE I BRING
Curiosity.
Nature.
Humanity.
My work is informed by naturopathic and integrative medicine, an interest in the physical effects of grief, and the belief that the woman in front of me is more than a collection of symptoms.
Widowhood is part of my experience. So are medicine, motherhood, and the continuing work of making a life.
